Back in October 2022, we gathered for the first time in a warm and sunny Bologna to officially launch the BRAVEST project.

Over the course of 2 days, we got to know each other and our project roles, before delving into our plans for the 3-year duration of the project.

ELITA, an ESOT Section dedicated to liver transplantation, has conducted several studies on COVID-19. Data on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on liver transplantation in Europe were limited before a three-part study was conducted among centres affiliated with the European Liver Transplant Registry (ELTR).

Italy was the first European Union country to be hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, and it paid high prices for the spread of the virus. The Italian National Transplant Network shares its response and how its approaches contributed to health system resilience.

Eurotransplant’s participation in the BRAVEST project fits our philosophy ‘cooperating saves lives’. We are convinced that learning from the different partners in this project is the best way to enhance future resilience to pan-European high-pressure situations.
